How do we understand and explain that the Vedas are self-evident truths?

Answer :

Self-evident is something which doesn’t need proof. Vedic scriptures come from God, and God’s words are absolute, so in that sense, Vedic scriptures are absolute.

We study and understand the Vedic teaching and experience the validity of it by our own experience. Vedic scriptures are reasonable, and they also talk about things which are beyond reason, not unreasonable though. They say trees have life, which was considered a doubtful statement a century ago.

Faith acts as the bridge between internal realization and external instructions. Faith holds the head and heart together on the journey of God.

It is not blind, because we have got basic realization of transcendental reality. So, with time, all will be evident to us. We can cultivate faith by focusing on the evident part. Then we can experience the transcendental things by purification of the heart, that is the self-evident confirmation.
